Well, hi:)

I can’t believe you found my blog! My name is Mahli, and this is a passion project I’ve wanted to start for a long time.

I learned to ski at 23, which felt wild considering I’d always been the least athletic person I knew. But living in an apartment overlooking Buck Hill made it easy to fall in love with the sport, even if my brain kept insisting I was “too old” to start. I stuck with it anyway.

Toward the end of my first season, I visited a friend in Marquette in, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and was blown away. The lake-effect snow, the friendly people, the quiet slopes, it all felt magical. Ironically, the snow I once teased her about became one of the main reasons I eventually moved to the U.P.

People often ask, “Who willingly moves to the U.P.?”
Well… me. Skiers. People who crave real winter without the rush of a place like Colorado. Life moves slower here, and the problems I thought mattered seem to melt away.

Thank you for being here. I can’t wait to share more stories from the U.P., the best ski spots in the Midwest, and what makes life in the Great White North so special.
